THERMO MECHANIC SOLAR POWER GENERATION – "ORC CYCLE”


The generation of electricity from solar energy of “Low Enthalpy Resources” indicates temperatures around 300°C in the "Hot Source" and 25°C in the "Cold Source". Working fluid would be "NH4OH" solution, or as alternative, "Freon Green” gas. The overall efficiency of the system will be 12%. The carbon gas (CO2) working as thermodynamic fluid reduces the efficiency of the system to 4%. However, results lower equipment costs in the case of market choice for household applications.

There will be good return over investments (ROI), independent of the “Organic Rankine Cycle” ( ORC ) with “low efficiency” because “low temperature” at hot source. The free, clean and renewable solar energy largely offset fuel costs, more logistic, store and handling of products like: biogas, biomass, natural gas, and diesel, as usual, in thermodynamics cycles of power plants, working with hot source in the range of 500°C.  Differences in implementation costs between PVs and solar thermo mechanics power plants are significant! Fixed PV panels towards to the South Geographic (in the northern hemisphere) has high implementation cost in terms of availability of energy put in "Watts per square meter of land, produced with reasonable efficiency only during days up to six hours (10am to 16 pm).  PVs are even more expensive in "KW" consumed in the morning, evening and night, with energy demand in 110V 50/60 Hz ( KWh ) through bank of batteries, inverters and load controller.

However, PVs are visually beautiful and from the point of view of financial investor require simple maintenance. In practice, does not occur in power plants. The attractive appearance and simplicity of a simple panel, used to supply "very light 12V DC electric loads" promotes easy marketing business, among other interests away from engineering field.
